Holiday on Thu, Feb. 17, for UAE

The Labour Ministry has declared Thursday, Feb. 17 a public holiday for the private sector in the United Arab Emirates to mark the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad, state news agency WAM reported.

The government had already declared Feb. 17 a holiday for employees working in ministries and federal bodies.

The prophet’s birthday actually falls on Tuesday, Feb. 15, but the government moved the holiday forward by two days because it falls between two working days.
